General Overview

Welcome to your automated home! No longer will you be wasting energy, stubbing your toe while
walking in the dark, or saying to yourself while sitting on the couch "I wish I had some good music to listen to". Your home automation system will solve these, and 245 other problems.

Every home automation system begins primarily with the home controller. This is the device that is responsible for integrating together the various subsystems (lighting, audio, climate control, etc). It also holds all of our advanced programming and configuration for the entire system, ensuring smooth communication across all devices and interfaces..

When you simply press "Good Night" on any touch screen, the home automation system does it's magic and tells the lights and audio system
to slowly turn off, thermostats to adjust, and security system to arm.

Of course here at SIT we are always pushing the boundaries of what these systems can do. Our custom programming techniques and advanced integration products give you even more than what your basic run-of-the-mill automation system can do.

What controls the home automation system? Is it a computer?
Either one of our specialized controllers controls the entire home automation system. No computer is required to control the home. Many automation systems run off a central computer and since they have moving parts, they often need to be replaced after 5-10 years. Our automation controllers are built to last with no moving parts and running on embedded systems.

Can the touch screen arm/disarm the security system?
Yes, the touch screen is able to control all aspects of the home automation system.

What happens to the system if the power goes out?
Each one of our systems is designed for maximum performance and optimized for complete reliability. When power goes off, a battery backup will power the system for 1-6 hours depending on the number of devices connected to the system. After that, the system will shut off. When power is restored, the system
will instantly come back online. The only information that is lost is the current time. All other configuration is stored in its memory.

Where is the home automation system installed?
The controller for the home automation system is typically installed in a closet or equipment room. It can either be mounted inside of a rack system, or in a structured wiring panel in a garage.

Can the home automation system integrate with my current security system (Napco, Gemni, ADT, Brinks, etc)?
The automation controller has built in communication ports that allow it to talk to legacy devices such as alarms. If the alarm has a communication port for remote communication, typically a serial port, then it can be used and integrated with the system. In most cases, we ensure to integrate the alarm if possible as security and the remote monitoring of it through the home automation system as one of the systems key benefits.

Are there monthly fees?
To monitor your home automation system from anywhere in the world, all you need is an internet connection at your home and a mobile device with broadband capabilities. There is no monthly charge. However, your alarm service is still dependent on the monitoring company and is always recommended as the primary way to monitor security.

Can I access my house and control it from anywhere in the world?
Yes, as long as you have an internet connection you can connect remotely to your house and control every aspect of your home automation system.
